The express kitesurfing course in Tarifa is designed for people on holiday who want to enjoy their first real experience on the water. The course focuses mainly on practical skills, keeping theory to the bare minimum required to ensure safety and control.
From the very start, you’ll get to grips with the kite and the wind, making the most of your day and getting a real feel for riding. It’s ideal for beginners who are keen for action but short on time.

The kitesurfing learning process
Kitesurfing is taught in a step-by-step manner, taking into account the student’s pace and the wind conditions. Our teaching method follows a clear structure that enables students to progress safely from their first attempts with the kite to riding independently.
We’ll start with a brief introduction to the basics of safety: you’ll learn about the wind, the equipment and the safety procedures. Straight after that, we’ll quickly get stuck into lots of practice with the kite on the sand.
You’ll get in the water to feel the kite’s true power. You’ll practise body dragging, a key technique for moving through the water using just the kite. Get ready for the time of your life.
With the help of your instructor, you’ll take the big step: your first water starts. You’ll learn how to get onto the board and stand up on the water whilst keeping control of the kite.
You’ll focus on staying on the board and keeping your course; once you’re standing on the board, you’ll learn to tack or sail at an angle to the wind so you can return to the same spot you set off from (this is called upwind riding)

Beginner
The beginner’s kitesurfing course is designed for people with no previous experience who want to discover this sport in a safe and gradual way.
During this course, you’ll learn the basics needed to control the kite and start riding.
Stages of the beginner’s course:
- Controlling the kite on land: launching, landing and basic handling.
- Controlling the kite in the water: body dragging, relaunching and steering.
- First glides: standing up on the board and starting to ride.
You can choose between private, semi-private or group lessons
Intermediate
The intermediate kitesurfing course is aimed at people who already know the basics of the sport but still find it difficult to ride upwind or do not feel entirely confident enough to practise independently.
At this level, we focus on the techniques needed for students to become independent kitesurfers, with greater control, safety and confidence in a variety of conditions.
For this level, we recommend taking the course as a private or semi-private lesson.
Advanzed
The advanced kitesurfing course is designed for riders who are already comfortable riding upwind and wish to develop their technical skills.
At this level, we introduce jumps, manoeuvres and different riding styles.

Who can take a kitesurfing course?

Which course should I choose?
The one that best suits your schedule, goals and budget…
Generally speaking, there are three types of courses depending on the number of students, all under the supervision and guidance of an instructor.
Group kitesurfing course: These consist of 3–4 students and one instructor. This group is designed for people who already know each other and want to enjoy their first kitesurfing experience together. Each student has their own personal kit (wetsuit, harness, helmet, life jacket). The kite is shared between two people.
Semi-private kitesurfing course: Just two students with one instructor. Each student has their own personal equipment. As for the kite, one or two kites may be used depending on the students, the conditions and the instructor’s judgement. It is the ideal course to share with a friend, child, partner…
The real secret to progressing quickly in kitesurfing lies in the time the instructor spends with you. That is why a semi-private course is a way to save time when learning.
Private Kitesurfing Course: This is the best way to learn, especially if you want to save time. One student with all the equipment to themselves and an instructor teaching and correcting them at all times.
Any of these three courses is suitable for a complete beginner starting from scratch.
Can children learn to kitesurf?
Of course. We also offer tailored courses and instructors who specialise in teaching children.
Generally, these courses will take place on days when the wind is light or moderate.
Who’s going to teach me kitesurfing?
An instructor with extensive experience, dedicated exclusively to teaching kitesurfing in Tarifa and its unique wind conditions. All of them hold international IKO (International Kitesurfing Organisation) and/or national FAV (Andalusian Sailing Federation) qualifications.
Most importantly, they are passionate about the sport and enjoy teaching and sharing their knowledge.
Upon completing your kitesurfing course, if you wish, you will receive an IKO international certificate, which will allow you to continue your course elsewhere or hire equipment.

We provide all the equipment: wetsuits, harnesses, life jackets, helmets and, above all, kitesurfing gear – kites, bars and boards – from the best brands and of the highest quality, such as Core, Crazyfly, Halley kiteboarding, Ride Engine and O’Neill.
In addition, in private and semi-private lessons, we’ll provide headphones so you can always hear your teacher.
What do I need to bring to my kitesurfing course?
Comfortable clothing, sunglasses, sun cream, a cap or hat, plenty of water or juice to drink during the class, and above all, enthusiasm and energy – because you’re going to have a great time.
What should I do if I want to carry on after finishing my kitesurfing course?
It’s quite normal to feel like continuing your learning once you’ve finished (which means you’ve really enjoyed it). Regardless of the level you’ve reached, the courses can be extended for as long as you need. There’s no standard course. You can start with 2 or 3 days and add more as you progress and as you feel like it.
There is also the option to add more hours to the course from the start to suit your needs: a 3-hour private course, a 4-hour semi-private course, etc.
What happens if I pay for a class but can’t attend it?
We’ll give you a refund. Or rather: you only pay for the lessons you actually take. Or you can come back at any other time of the year to take the course – the choice is yours.
